Presentation of Media Addiction Research Results for 2011
We invite you to attend presentation of research results „Old and New Media and Media Addiction of Audience“, conducted by Positive Center for Digital Media in cooperation with Faculty for Culture and Media. Presentation will be held on 12th of October at 12h in Media Center Belgrade (Big Hall, 2nd floor, 3 Terazije st.).
State Secretary for Media, Dragana Milicevic will open the press conference.
Authors, LjubisaBojic, president of executive committee at Positive Center for Digital Media and dr Srbobran Brankovic, president of executive committee at TNS Medium Gallup and professor at Faculty for Culture and Media will talk about research results.
Research has been conducted in April and May of 2011 on sample of 2200 respondents which is representative for Serbian population above 18 years of age. This research gives answers to some very important and interesting questions which have not been examined before: how many people think that media reporting is rich with negative or positive news? Do citizens of Serbia think that media provide realistic or manipulative picture of the world around them? How many of them think they overuse media? How many of them would like to go somewhere without media access? What is the level of Internet addiction and what is the level of classical media addiction etc.
This research is a first step towards our application for regional EU IPA funding. Results of this and future researches should help governments improve their media strategies. On the other hand, we would encourage media to use our research results to fulfill their social role. Implementation of this research & education program in digital media would help media increase quality of their content. The program would also engage international team of media researchers for the period of three years.
Anita Todorovic will moderate the conference. Before presentation of research results, representatives of our partner organizations would introduce public to their roles in this media research program.
