New World Philosophy
In a new age of universalism our civilization comes to culmination point. Mass media such as organized religions, state, monetary system and technology serve as alienation tools performing destructive pressure by representing minorities. We shall discuss birth, rise and death of culture-organism.
This course examines whether human symbols represent reality. Could human beings express themselves thousands of years ago through scarce media? Does the rise of mass media mean our tendency to escape darkness of nature and grab rational perspective along the way? Does the expansion of mass media mean rise of culture-organism?
How does “materialization of our lives” contribute to development of Internet – ultimate symbol for virtual life? What is age of substitutions and how it evolved together with social pathologies? How do time, space and language reflect new world and our attempt to escape ourselves with constant superficial change?
We shall ask basic questions of spirit, soul and material world to reach conclusions about future of media and individual freedoms?
